Three Man Race for AL Cy Young

by

With two months left in the regular season three pitchers have emerged as contenders for the American League Cy Young.  Detroit’s Justin Verlander the League leader in strikeouts (178) and wins (15), New York’s CC Sabathia, the League leader in wins (15) and Los Angeles’ Jared Weaver, the League leader in ERA (1.88) are neck to neck to neck in the race for the League’s top pitching honor. See how the pitchers compare

Strikeouts (Blue), Walks (Orange) & Earned Runs (Green)

Check out their WHIP: Verlander Sabathia Weaver

Verlander and Weaver squared off yesterday with the Tigers getting the 3-2 victory as Verlander was four outs away from recording his second no-hitter of the season.  Sabathia will seek his 16th win when he takes the mound in the South Side of Chicago tonight.  Come October which hurler will collect the hardware?  More importantly though, which ace will still be pitching?
