Diamond in the Rough

One of Brian Cashman’s strengths as a General Manager is finding diamonds in the rough, players who seem to be afterthoughts when signed but turn out to help the Yankees in meaningful ways. For an example this season, look at Cory Wade.  Wade was signed as a minor league free agent earlier this year and now is a key member of the Yankees’ deep bullpen.  Check out Wade’s ERA and WHIP.

While the 23.1 innings Wade has pitched in relief is a small sample size, he has been phenomenal, giving up only 6 Earned Runs and 2 Home Runs.  Wade has been a great addition to the already strong Yankee bullpen and should be a key asset come October.
