It’s Heating Up in the NL Central

The race for the lead spot in the NL Central is going to heat up this weekend. The Pirates, who are currently tied for first with the Brewers, are playing the Cardinals who are one game out of first. The Cardinals’ offense is playing strong and are ranked third in the league for best team batting average (.267) and on base percentage (.338). The Pirates’ offense may be lacking, but their starting pitchers have been getting the job done. Which team do you think will take the lead spot in the NL Central after the series?

Defensively, both teams appear to be performing similarly; however, offensively, the Cardinals clearly have an edge over the Pirates. My guess is that the series is going to come down to number of hits, so the Pirates’ offense needs to make contact the ball in order to stay on top.
