Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirates’ Life for Me

The Pittsburgh Pirates haven’t struck gold since 1992. Heck, they’ve been lost at sea for quite some time. After losing 18 straight seasons, the Pirates may actually have a chance at the 2011 playoffs. The Pirates’ starting pitchers have carried the team this season with a compiled ERA of 3.55, which is the ninth best in the league. Alternatively, the team’s offense is ranked in the bottom third in the league for batting average (.247), slugging percentage (.364), and on base percentage (.314).

Obviously, the Pirates’ offense needs to step up its game if they want to  have a chance at the 2011 playoffs.
