Can the Young King Stay on Cy’s Throne?

by

It will be difficult for Felix Hernandez to win back to back Cy Young awards.  While, King Felix’s 3.19 ERA is almost a full run higher than his League leading 2.27 ERA in 2010, his current 1.15 WHIP is only slightly higher than his 2010 1.06 WHIP.  Also, Hernandez is second in the American League in strikeouts with 140 a stat in which he lead the Major in 2010.  Surprisingly, Felix’s 8-7 record is on pace to surpass his 2010 record of 13-12.  However, compared to the Earned Run total of the other AL All-Star starting pitchers, Hernandez must dominate the rest of the season to get back into the Cy Young race.
